Our walk with the Lord does not end when we accept Him as our Savior. The process of learning and growing in Christ continues, and NLF provides multiple opportunities for adults to continue their pursuit of God. Click below to learn more about our adults' ministries.
Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” This 9:10 Sunday morning discipleship class is essential in introducing and then bringing someone to faith in Jesus. It is a four part series that takes 3 months to complete. The end goal is that any unbelievers who partake in these classes will be a disciple of Jesus. These are the classes:
The Bridge of Life is a question and answer class open for anyone to attend. The goal is that unbelievers will be comfortable to attend and ask questions about God, Christianity, worship and build relationships with the believers in the class.
Knowing God is the next class about learning foundations and beginning understanding of Christianity. This class teaches how to pray and by the end the goal is for everyone in the class to have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Foundation is the beginning of the Christian life! The new believers will get a water baptism, learn better how to read and understand the bible, more about prayer and fasting and tithing.
Family of God teaches how the church body becomes like family and stresses the importance of relationships. At this stage a class member may begin to serve at the church services or lead a cell group. Also after graduation of this class a student may enroll in the elective class to become more mature in their walk with the Lord.
Encounter with God at New Life are a vital part of each believer’s walk with God. It is a time of spiritual retreat with the Lord for the purpose of receiving healing of body, soul and spirit. We encourage every member of our church to take part in an Encounter with God retreat and when they return, we always hear testimonies of the wonderful things that God has done in their lives.
People receive from the love of God; they receive forgiveness for past sins, freedom from spiritual strongholds and the ability to forgive those who have done wrong to them. At the end of every Encounter, we have a Welcome Back from the Encounter Meeting with the entire church congregation. At that meeting all the participants rejoice in the tremendous things that God has done in their lives and many tell about what God has done in them personally.
A strong church is established by a strong healthy marriage. New Life
Fellowship believes that in order to have a strong marriage, God
should be in the center. As part of rebuilding a country where
families have been torn apart, building Godly relationships in
marriage is crucial. Also, the positive influence that a Godly
marriage has on the community is essential for Cambodia.
Sim Samnang and Samdy meet at New Life Fellowship and quickly began
growing as leaders and disciples. After getting married, they realized
they were being called to a ministry. In 2004 Sim saw there was a
great need for a ministry that worked with the newlyweds and also the
marriages that may be struggling. He began the with very few
marriages in the church but now the number has greatly multiplied.
The ministry offers pre-marital classes as well as follow up sessions
after the wedding. Sim also does a marriage support class. Sim is not
all business, he likes to get outside and have fun too. He organizes
with the help of his volunteers a marriage retreat to the beach in
Sihanouk Ville every year around November. They stay three to four
days and have guest speakers, games and just a relaxing getaway from
the city life. On the last Saturday of every other month the ministry
does a marriage seminar at a local restaurant. There is also marriage
cell groups that meet every week lead by Sim and his wife. New this
year Sim would like to start doing a fellowship meal and also a family
fellowship on Khmer New Year.
The fellowship meal would be more
intimate and one on one then the marriage seminar and in a home not
just a restaurant. The family fellowship would be a time of fun and
games for the families of the church. All these events are open to all
of the churches associated with New Life.
Please pray for wisdom for Sim and his wife. That they lead by
example and hear from the Lord regularly. Pray for the men of these marriages to accept the privilege the Lord has given them and to honor their wives. Pray the women will support their husbands in their
marriages.

'Compassion with Power' is a ministry within New Life Fellowship that
is committed to establishing Healing Home Centers
for the poor and the sick. Founded by Kim and Susan Bonnevie from
New Zealand, Kim was the senior pastor of City Life Church in New
Plymouth for 15 years and Susan was a registered nurse for 25 years. They
moved to Cambodia in 2007. Their vision is to establish local
church-based Healing Homes in Cambodia that represent Jesus in His
compassion and His power to heal.
The first centre, 'Wonderful Healing Home' opened in August 2008.
The home has room for up to seven patients accompanied by one
family member or friend. It is open to any person with any kind of
sickness, wounds and or malnutrition. They will receive basic medical
attention, loving care and prayer. However the emphasis is not on the medical
healing but rather on the healing power of Jesus, the Healer. Patients
stay from a few days to a few months or even longer, depending on
their situation.
'Wonderful Healing Home' has a seven Khmer staff (3 full-time; 4
part-time), all who are members of New Life Fellowship
Church.
A daily schedule includes staff prayer and worship and devotional Bible
teaching and prayer with the patients . Many patients have become true
believers while staying in the Healing Home and many others can
testify to receiving the healing touch of Jesus.
In 2009, a total of
104 patients and about 60 family members came into the home.
Currently Kim and Susan are working towards opening up a second home in Phnom
Penh. Within the next few years they plan to see Healing Homes established
in the provinces of Cambodia.
"And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was
moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick." Matthew

Rin (left) and her mother at the Healing Home. Rin came to
the Healing Home curled up in a comatose state and very, very close to
starvation. Her lovely mum had been begging to get money to live for
years. At last report, Rin was eating 'four times a day and she is
fat now'!!
Dtouch, our week-day cook, giving granny a shiny-head hair-do!
Bonna, one of the part time staff, in the kitchen. Bonna sleeps
six nights a week at the home. We always have two staff members
sleeping over.
Sopheap (right) leads a devotion for our patients in the afternoon.
Little Long came to the Healing Home with tiny crippled legs
that were scarred with disease. Today he can run and he bicycles to
school every day. His mother has become a believer and when she
returned to her village she threw out all the idol.
The church has over 90 small groups located around the city. The purpose is so that members of the church can connect with each other, grow closer to God, train disciples, care for one another and pray together. Each group meets weekly and has a leader together with an assistant consists 8 to 12 people with the vision to invite others and the assistant to lead their own group. Then we multiply again.
During the times together we are welcomed, worship God through singing and praise, study the Word together and pray that each may go into the world to Witness. Each group covers the same material, but has it's own unique feel as conversations are unfold and hearts are touched. It's a great way for accountability and to make lifelong friends.
Our leaders are trained at monthly meetings and sometimes special weekend trainings are sponsored and conducted by our brothers and sisters in Christ overseas to better equip our leaders in leadership skills, pastoral care, bible teaching, discussion leading, prayer and witnessing to the community. Bibles are distributed through the small groups as new people come and want to know the Living God through His Word.
A vision for the women of Cambodia Outreach is that all women at
NLF church would be encouraged to attend the women's ministry. 'There
is a desire especially for the young women to be raised up to become
influential leaders. The women's ministry wants to encourage and equip
the pastor's and the leader's wives at NLF provincial churches to
shepard their flock in physical and spiritual needs. Another goal is
to build up and strengthen relationships among leaders and pastor's
families. And finally, bring lost souls back to Jesus.
Every Saturday morning, the women's ministry hosts a seminar and
time of fellowship. They each have a theme and are for single,
married, moms and elderly women. Once a year, they conduct a retreat
for the helpers to refresh and grow them so they will become leaders.
Also once a year they have a retreat for the wives of the pastors and
the leaders from NLF provinces. Weekly, small groups around the city
meet and grow in their faith and learn more of the bible. Some of
these groups are themed for women. All these events are also
opportunities for unbelievers to hear and come to know Jesus.
A prayer request is that more women would hear and accept Jesus
into their hearts. And that the women's ministry would have enough
money to pay for all these activities!
