Matthew 28:16-20 commands believers to go and make disciples of the nations. NLF is starting in our own nation of Cambodia. Click below to learn more about the churches in the provincial areas.
School of Leaders
The School of Leaders is a monthly Bible training school for all our provincial pastors and leaders. We gather together once a month to learn, discuss and apply a chosen subject. The subjects that we teach are in three different categories: Bible, Practical Christian Living and Leadership Skills. The format that we use is a combination of teaching, discussion and application. Sometimes, we will meet in Phnom Penh and other times, we will meet in the provincial villages.
The goal of the School of Leaders is to help each leader to grow in their understanding of God and His ways and to bless them with the tools to lead their churches throughout Cambodia. A secondary goal is to establish a ‘community’ of leaders. Our desire is that each of these leaders will have strong relationships with the other leaders and they can be a source of help and strength to each other. This secondary goal is clearly being accomplished as we see our leaders sharing their hearts and ideas with one another and also as they spend a time praying together, laughing together and having fun with each other.
Our vision from the very beginning was to plant a church in Phnom Penh which would be a life-giving church to Cambodia and would be the "mother church" to multiple churches planted in the provinces of Cambodia.
The Book of Acts has been our pattern: Start in the "gate city" and work your way to the surrounding areas. God has led New Life to plant churches through relationships. Most of our churches have been planted because one person in the Phnom Penh church or a provicial church knew someone in another village, (usually a relative) and they invited us to go with them to share the Gospel.
This is our philosophy:
1. Raise up our own leaders, train them and send them out. We do not "hire" nor seek leaders from other churches or church movements. All but one of our pastors and leaders have been born again through our ministry, discipled, trained and mentored under our supervision.
2. Do not plant churches where there already is a church. Only 1% of Cambodia is Christian. There are hundreds of villages where the people have never heard of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to plant churches where there is no church. There have been times when we began evangelizing in a village, only to find later that another church group was meeting in a home or attempting to plant a church there. If that happenned, we just moved on to another village. However, we have encounted a few situations where another church has attempted church planting and has failed or has not bothered to follow up with a village that they had tried to start a work in. When visiting these villages we have encountered families who have begged us to come and teach them. In these cases we will evangelize and attempt to plant a church to serve the village.
We believe in signs, wonders, healings and deliverance to show the power of God. Therefore, when we enter a village or home, we always pray for the sick and cast out demons. When God shows His power we gain a reputation and they see that Jesus is the One, True and Living God and they will come and hear the message.
Church Planters Ready to Go But Need Support
Below is a list of church planters that all already responding to the call of God by evangelizing and making disciples, but how much more could they do if they had financial support for their livelyhood and ministry needs. It's been our exerience that when workers are supported for a season the church multiplies more quickly and disciples are strong in the faith because they have the resouces to grow.

ADOPT-A-VILLAGE
We believe in holistic ministry to spirit, soul and body being done through the church. Jesus told us to go and preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God - this includes a salvation for spirit, soul and body. New Life Fellowship of Churches Cambodia has planted dozens of churches throughout the Cambodian countryside through pastors who have come to the Lord through our ministry and have been discipled and trained. Many of our churches are having significant influence on the villages. In fact, often the church is persecuted when it is first planted in a villagers house, but as the villagers see us minister to the children, the widows and the poor through education, rice banks, water wells, health clinics and more, they begin to turn their heart toward the church and stop the persecution, many of them coming to the Lord.
Adopt-a-Village is an opportunity for a church, business, family or individual to support the pastor and ministries of a village church. This would include:
The pastor’s salary
Children’s ministry
Youth outreach
Evangelistic activities
Ministry to the widows and the poor
Constructing a facility for them to meet in
And more, according to the church’s needs
For more information on how you can adopt a village, contact Pastor Jesse McCaul at jesse@cambodiaoutreach.org.
OUR VISION
To plant a life-giving church in Phnom Penh that will have positive influence on Cambodian Society;
To plant multiple churches in every province of Cambodia with the same foundation and philosophy, that will also have a positive influence on their region;
To send Cambodians as missionaries to other nations.
PROCEDURE FOR PLANTING CHURCHES
There is no exact procedure for planting churches, but usually one person in a village where we already have a church or outreach wants us to take the Gospel to a relative or friend in another village. We always start in a home and encourage that person to invite their friends. At times we may have up to 100 people gathered in or around the small thatch or wooden house. Our Cambodian evangelist usually starts by answering the villagers many questions. There are often huge misunderstanding about our God, Jesus Christ, or the church. For example many peope have heard that when a Christian dies they nail him to a cross and put him in a hole in the ground! After we have answered their questions, we begin to teach a set of lessons called "Understanding God and His Wonderful Plan for Your Life."
We send an evangelist and a team to the village weekly, The truly interested pre-believers begin to be more evident as those who came only out of curiosity eventually leave. During this time some of the villagers hearts are moved and they profess their faith in Christ . Soon the evangelist starts a new group in the village - one for believers to disciple them, which we call our "Foundations" class and one for unbelievers to continue to evangelize them.
Each evangelist always goes with a team: an assistant to keep things consistent in case the evangelist, who has multiple places he's trying to start a church in cannot go to that village for a week; a children's worker or two (all volunteers from the Phnom Penh church or a provicial church); a woman or two who can minister to the women who are seeking God; and often a healthcare representative from our healthcare ministry.
The evangelist must pray, asking God whom He has chosen to become the leader/pastor of the budding church. The evangelist then starts meeting with 1 or 2 men and giving them more personal attention. These men are also invited to start attending the various leadership training functions we provide for all our church leaders. After about two years of mentoring and transitioning, the new leader takes the reins of the church and the evangelist becomes his mentor - maintaining a relationship with him and visiting the church from time to time. We also start training musicians and children's workers in the budding church.
We classify our churches this way:
Evangelistic Outreach: Probably no believers yet, but regular meetings taking place as we seek to lead the pre-believers to the Lord. Emerging Churches: A leader has been chosen, is being trained or is in place but they are still under the close supervsion of more mature leaders Churches: A leader from that village is now leading the church. The church has it's own children's ministry, discipleship classes, and is reaching out to surrounding villages in order to plant a daughter church.
