Heng Sotha is one of the first fruits of the ministry in Cambodia. Sotha came to the Lord through a short-term team which visited Phnom Penh in 1994. He was attending an English Class and Bible study with Pastor Eric Dooley when the team gave him a Bible. He began reading the Bible and believed it, giving his life to Jesus Christ. Since that time Sotha has risen as a key evangelist with New Life Fellowship of Churches Cambodia. He has traveled to many provinces and personally planted many churches. He is a devout man of integrity and full of faith. Sotha is married and has four children.

Evangelist Heng Sotha
My name is Sopheak, I am a church planter of New Life Fellowship and my wife is Kimhoung. My wife works as a nurse in the Hope Center of Sihanouk Hospital. We have been married for two years, my wife is seven months pregnant.
Before I married, I thought that marriage life is very wonderful, in fact it’s true. Marriage life is very wonderful. but in my two years of marriage I have been through a lot of difficulties. Both of us are Christians, we love God, we are faithful to attend the church every Sunday. But we still have a lot of problem in our marriage sometimes we almost divorce. Then I recognized that, just attend the church is not enough. Praise God we are invited to join the marriage small group with brother Samnang and his wife, Samdy. Through this group we are really blessed, we can know others families and all of us have very good relationship as brothers and sisters. We can share our problem and difficulties to one another freely, so that we can pray for one another and helping each other as well.
Now I know that this is the true family in the Lord Jesus Christ, my family is changed, both of us can receive the true love from each other, we can be patient with each other, and I can experience the true love from God and from all these brothers and sisters in Christ as well.
I thank God very much for brother Samnang and his wife that lead and guide us to follow God’s way and know the priority in this life ( God – family – the ministry). When we face problems, we have brothers and sisters in our group to help us, especially brother Samnang and his wife, they are our parents of faith and brother and sister as well. Through our group we want to see others come to the Lord and become the disciples of Jesus. I commit myself and my family to God and I will try on best to serve Him and helping in take care of God’s people. God bless you.

When we first went to Cambodia we sought an avenue to reach into the unbelieving community. For us, the avenue the Lord opened for us was teaching English classes, then computer classes, then office skills classes. Our Office Skills Training School (see Ministries Tab) now reaches thousands of students each week. Hundreds upon hundreds of lives have been changed - led to faith in Christ, as well as equipped with marketable job skills. Below is the testimony of one young man that is so typical of hundreds of others:
My name is Phrum Channa.I am a student in New Life’s OfficeSkillsTrainingCenter.I have believed in Jesus for 6 months. I have known Jesus through English classes at New Life’s OfficeSkillsTraining School. English teachers usually choose one day each week to teach the Bible. The teachers said that Jesus is the one true God and the Savior. I was interested in hearing that there is the one true God, but I didn’t decide to believe in Jesus yet because I thought it’s just a religion. Then I watched the believers’ lives, they are different from others, it seems have something in them, they are good at encouragement and they are very friendly, after that I decided to attend Sunday church meeting and they gave me a fraternal welcome, this made me feel warm very much and I began to take a Sunday Bible class at 9:15 am but my faith in Jesus was about 40 percent because I didn’t know Him well at that time. However, Jesus did a miracle for me, He answered my prayer request. Now I really believe that faith in Jesus is not a religion but a relationship. After believing in Jesus I feel like a new person, my character is changed, before I was easy to be angry but Jesus has changed my life, I am patient, I am not angry easily and I can pardon others doing something wrong to me. Especially I know that I love my family, my brothers and sisters and I focus my attention on them a lot. Before I was greedy, I was selfish, I didn’t think about others and my family, I reckoned wealth and work the best things, even my freedom I didn’t care but wealth is not significant for me now, everything on earth is like trying to chase after wind. Ecc 1:2-11
Rady is a young man who came to our English classes and gave his life to the Lord Jesus. I (Jesse) personally spent time with him helping him get established in the Lord.It was so good to receive this recent email from him.Thank you all for making it possible for New Life Fellowship of Churches Cambodia to exist and reach out and change lives like Rady and his friend, Yue.
Hi Jesse and Soar:
It's amazing to hear from you. Praise the Lord for his mercy upon Cambodia. May God's blessing come upon you. There are many more future leaders will be raised up through your ministry. God really please with what you are doing right now.Every time I think about you, it inspires me to serve God and be willing to go and take a risk with God.
God is so good. I am so blessed to get to know you guys. You are an Amazing couple, the great example to all believers in Cambodia. I was a hopeless man, a no man and no future and no direction. In year 2000s, I got to know your church as my English class. I accepted God together with one of my friend name Yue. Yue went back to his home village in Kompong Cham in Year 2003s, and started to teach English and shared Jesus. All his students got to know Jesus. Right now Yue is a pastor in his home church. It’s amazing!!!
You really influenced our lives so much. I got to know Yue (my friend in New Life Church-English Class) personally, and right now we start to support each other. I am serving God full time volunteer in YWAM, I led DTS and many outreach teams over Cambodia since 2003s. I finished School of Biblical Study last two months and right now am doing leadership training and staff development at YWAM base in Montana. I will go home in two weeks.
All of all, I appreciate what you did to my life. You are the letter to me and I want to live as God's words to other also. I hope to have a time with you when I get back.
May God's wisdom be with you.
Love, Rady

30 Days of Hope by Mrs. Rath Phan Seiha
30 days of Hope in Cambodia is a ministry of Joyce Meyer, started Friday, July 13th to August 12th, 2007 Cambodia. There were many activities done by this ministry in 30 days in Cambodia such as medical work throughout many provinces, workshops, concerts, and sermon in cities and provinces. It started on July 13th with a concert and sermon by a team from Hillsong London church from England. Then the rest of activities started until August 12th. August 10th to 12th, there was supposed to have a big event at the stadium opened by Mrs. Joyce Meyer with two worship bands from Hillsong Australia (Darlene Zech) and Delirious band.Unfortunate, there were some problems with the government and religious ministry in Cambodia that we could not make this happen (it was complicated to explain in another language). It was a sad thing, but at the same time, we have learned a lot from it and could apply to our daily journey with God.
The first day of the concert (Aug. 10th), we were not allowed to use the stadium. So we went to rent another private place, but there were still some police tried to stop us. So there was nothing happen on the first day.
The second day (Aug. 11th), we were allowed to rent the private place to do the concert, but when it was time, everything was prepared, and the concert was almost started, then there were some policemen came and turned off the light to stop us from doing this. This night was very interesting and powerful. After the light was turned off, Darlene Zech and Delirious band stood up on some chairs and started to sing and worshiping God with all Cambodian people in that dark place. Then we were chased out of this building, but we were allowed to stay inside the fence in the parking lot. None of these people gave up nor went back home; they stood outside and started to worship God. Darlene Zech and Pisit join hands to lead worship; Darlene led worship in English and Pisit led worship in Khmer. The power of God flowed down on everybody and they all worshiped God in freedom! There were many more people showed up, but they were not allowed to get in the fence. So all these people stood outside the fence and join the worship with people inside the fence. Roads around that area was jammed by Christians worshiping God and by many Cambodian people who were wondering what was happening and stopped to see. 10 or 15 minutes later, Mrs. Joyce Meyer came but she was not allowed to get into the fence. She climbed pass the fence and joined others in worship God. She was able to share a short sermon with a big speaker and some people who could hear helped to spread out to other people who stood too far from her and could not hear.
We had permission from government to do the concert and we could sue those policemen for stopping us, but we tried not to cause any problem.
The third day (Aug. 12th), in the morning, we were told that we were allowed to us the stadium for the big event in the evening. Many people went to stadium to prepare and set things up for the evening event. In early afternoon, one bad news were spread out that if we continue to do the concert, there would be bombs blown during the concert. We were not sure where this news came from or if this really gonna happen. All the committees met and decided not to have the concert at all for safety of our Christians in Cambodia. Many Christian got so up sad about this, but there was nothing we could do except pray! Some guys from my church were so anxious about this concert and they said this “If we can not have concert in the stadium, let’s do it at our church” So we had a concert at our church at that evening and there were 200-300 youth came.
In the evening on the third day, Joyce Meyer invited all the leaders in Cambodia and helpers for this ministry to come for a special meeting. She spoke some encouraged words to encourage all of us who live in Cambodia to continue following God and she and her team will keep praying for us.
Joyce Meyer and her team, Darlene Zech and her husband, and Delirious band went back home the next day with joy and good memory of a good relationship and many good things they had done with Christians in Cambodia.
Please do not try to ask me or others “WHY?” question; I do not think we have good answer for you. It was something about Cambodia government and Religious in Cambodia.
It was very sad that this event had been planned for such a long time and when it was time, we could not do anything. But we can see that through this difficult time, Christians in Cambodia has unity and good relationship to each other. Also, there are many Cambodian Non-Christian have known and heard about Christianity in Cambodia. They started to hear, know, and wonder what and who Christians are? We believe that through this time, God will open the door bigger for Cambodia and bring those Cambodians to church and see what real Christians do!
